The Fondation Carmignac, Porquerolles Island

The Fondation Carmignac is a corporate foundation with two main focuses: a contemporary art collection of more than 300 works, and the Carmignac Photojournalism Award that annually supports an investigative report that is the subject of an exhibition and a catalog. In partnership with the Fondation Carmignac was inaugurated a new location accessible to the public: the Villa Carmignac on the island of Porquerolles where exhibitions and cultural events take place.

Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma, St Tropez

The Cultural Center Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma will be interesting to visit not only for film fans who immediately recall the iconic French film “Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez”. Here you can learn not only about the film industry in the city but also about the history of the French gendarmerie (troops).

The Museums of Grasse, Grasse

Grasse is home to myriad public and private museums located right in its history-steeped city centre. The Provence Art and History Museum (MAHP) brings together extensive collections delving into everyday life in Provence. The Jean-Honoré Fragonard Villa-Museum is an elegant, late 17th-century country house harbouring works by the famous painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard and his descendants. Not forgetting two unmissable stops when sightseeing in the world’s perfume capital: the International Perfume Museum (MIP), which explores the global history of perfume, and its gardens (MIP gardens), the conservatory of fragrant plants in Mouans-Sartoux.

Events at The Mediterranean Gardens, Rayol

The Domaine du Rayol Jardin des Méditerranées hosts numerous events and cultural activities on its grounds, including garden tours, family activities, workshops, a marine trail, concerts and seasonal celebrations. Each summer, the Domaine du Rayol organises the Soirées Romantiques music festival at the Jardin des Méditerranées, a programme of classical concerts and music from the Mediterranean performed in a very special setting in the open air, facing the sea. The balmy summer evenings are ideal for enjoying the performances of works by the great classical composers (Chopin, Brahms, Beethoven, Debussy, Mozart and Schumann) and sharing the convivial atmosphere.

Vineyard Visits

The area is well known for its rosé wine (although you can find marvelous reds and whites). It’s also increasingly becoming more organic so it’s likely you’ll see ploughs and harvesting by hand. Some of the best vineyards to visit for wine tasting include Château des Marres, Domaine Bertaud Belieu, Domaine de la Madrague, Château Barbeyrolles, Maison Angelvin, Château Volterra, Château Minuty, Domaine de la Croix.
